Organizational Communication Faculty Search (1074)
Position Available: Department of Communication Studies, Assistant Professor Position in Organizational Communication

Appointment: Tenure-track position with 9-month appointment.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate preferred in communication or communication related discipline with teaching experience desired, ABD considered. Qualified candidates should be able to teach graduate level coursework and be eligible for graduate faculty.
Job Description: Successful candidate would teach various courses in the undergraduate and graduate program related to Organizational Communication such as Organizational Cultures, Developing Human Resources Through Communication, Recruiting and Interviewing Techniques, and/or Coaching and Mentoring Communication in Organizations. Secondary specialties in the areas of Media Studies, Strategic Communication, or Research Methods considered a plus.
Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction is imperative and an interest in distance learning and willingness to deliver distance learning courses are assets.
Ability to teach one or more of the following graduate communication core classes is considered a positive factor:
- Organizational Communication and Leadership
- Introduction to Graduate Research
- Contemporary Theories in Communication
- Seminar in Communication Research
Opportunities also exist to teach and/or develop courses within the department.
Candidate will advise program majors and show evidence of an active scholarly research agenda. Fort Hays State University faculty performs duties based on a 60% instruction, 20% scholarship and 20% service expectation. The candidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester.
Summer teaching/assignments possible.
Scholarship - The successful candidate will exhibit an active scholarly agenda sufficient to gain tenure within the requisite time period and will continue to be an active scholar throughout his or her career.
Service - The successful candidate will exhibit commitment to the university through committee and other service at the department, college, and university level. Service to the profession is expected as is service to the community.
