The Engineering Technology Department at Queensborough Community College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology and/or Computer Science. The Assistant Professor will perform teaching, research, scholarship, and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below and will share responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.

As a community college in the CUNY system, Queensborough offers a wide variety of courses for university transfer, general education, preparation for careers, and enrichment. Contractual teaching load is 27 contact hours for the academic year (typically 4-5 course sections); summer optional. Candidate will teach courses in Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology and/or Computer Science. Faculty on Assistant Professor tenure track receive reassigned time to pursue scholarship. Participate in departmental and college activities including committees, course and program assessment, curriculum development and preparation of grants. Provide academic support and advisement for students. For faculty in Assistant Professor rank, continued scholarly activities are required for tenure and promotion. Some evening or weekend teaching may be required. Position to start in the Fall 2017 or Spring 2018 semester.

The Engineering Technology Department offers Associate Degree programs in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Telecommunications Technology, Internet and Information Technology, and Engineering Science. The department's facilities include 13 laboratories all of which contain state-of-the-art, well maintained equipment. The department provides opportunities for faculty pedagogical and disciplinary research as well as course development. For more information, please see the department's website at


Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Prior teaching experience, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.


For Assistant Professor Appointment:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution, or

Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field plus NYS PE License.

Strong preference for candidates with a specialization in Computer Science, Electric Circuit Analysis, Electronics and Amplifiers, Digital Circuit Theory and Microprocessor Architecture, Microprocessor Programming, Computer Applications, Cyber Security, Visual Basic (VB.NET), C Programming, Digital and Analog Communications, Networking, Operating Systems, Webpage Technology, Web Programming: JavaScript, CGI, XML, Database Driven Websites, Computer Repair, and IT Certification.

Preferred qualifications include: 1) college level teaching experience in Computer Science, Electronic Technology, Computer Technology and/or Programming, with a strong preference for community college teaching; 2) scholarship and research interests in computer science, electronic project construction, microprocessors, robotics, 3-D printing, computer programming, cyber security, internet technology, information technology, networking or telecommunications ; 3) research interests in teaching/learning innovation; 4) experience using instructional technology and project based learning; 5) experience with student-centered and high-impact pedagogy (see; 6) experience with course and/or program assessment; and 7) experience teaching diverse college student populations 8) experience with advisement and mentoring of students.
