The Department of Horticulture in the College of Agriculture, Food and the Environment at the University of Kentucky is currently seeking a twelve-month, tenure-track faculty position to develop a basic research program in plant microbiome communities as related to the human microbiome and human health and nutrition. The Assistant Professor assignment will be 80% research and 15% resident instruction and 5% service. The individual will study how horticultural production practices influence plant microbiomes and how they influence human health and nutrition by partnering with the department of Dietetics & Human Nutrition as well as the Division of Digestive Health and Nutrition in the College of Medicine.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an innovative, independent, extramurally funded research program, provide excellent classroom instruction, contribute to curriculum development, mentor students and postdoctoral fellows and interact with a very multidisciplinary group of faculty. Competitive start-up packages will be provided. All candidates must have a doctoral degree by the time of appointment in Horticulture, Microbiology, Plant Science, or a related field. The individual should possess the ability to function within a team and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
