The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for a tenure-ineligible Assistant Professor position to work in the Center for Advanced Vision Science who's Director, Dr. Ambati, was a recipient of the 2014 NIH Director's Pioneer Award.

A dynamic and talented individual is sought to join a vibrant group that has made pioneering contributions to ocular biology and innate immunity. Applicants should hold PhD, MD, or equivalent degree(s) with the ability of unsupervised planning, execution, data collection, and analyses. The candidate must be a strong communicator who works well in a team setting.

The ideal candidate will be expected to support research efforts to reduce vision-threatening eye disease, to develop new concepts in understanding the mechanisms of ocular disease, independently carry out experiments, and contribute to the mission for vision science, serving as a resource and mentor for the research group and serve an active role in the education and training of research fellows, laboratory staff, and medical students.

Computer skills are necessary for data analysis and interpretation with expected proficiency in Windows, Office, AdobeSuite applications, SPSS or other statistical software, and ImageJ.
