The Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware invites applications for a continuing-track (non-tenure track) position to teach in the Trust Management minor and oversee outreach and administration for the Trust Management minor.

The University of Delaware anticipates launching the first-ever academic Trust Management program at an AACSB-accredited business school in 2017-18. The curriculum is offered through the collaboration of faculty members in the accounting, business law, and finance areas, and will provide a comprehensive skillset in trust management, as well as necessary grounding in taxation and estate planning. The program's goals are to:

  • Educate students seeking an academic focus in the field of trust management
  • Provide internship opportunities for students interested in trust management
  • Promote trust management as a career choice
  • Meet the needs of employers seeking trust management experts
  • Distinguish UD's Financial Planning major from rival programs at other universities by providing additional focus on trust management
  • Give students a competitive advantage by strengthening the bonds between UD and the numerous trust management firms in Delaware


Successful candidates will demonstrate the drive and vision to implement an innovative, cutting-edge instructional program, and to be able to coordinate activities and relationship with the trust banking community.

Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. A terminal degree such as the Ph.D. or JD is required, but other graduate academic and professional qualification(s) (e.g., MS or MBA, in combination with professional certification such as CPA, CFP, CFA, CTFA) may be considered. Applicants with a JD will be expected to have been admitted to membership in a State Bar. Candidates must be qualified to teach in the areas of trust law and/or tax accounting, and trust management. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of financial services, trust administration, or the practice of law is required. A record of scholarly or practitioner-oriented publications or conference presentations is highly desirable. We are seeking individuals who, like UD, Dare to be First. The faculty appointment depends on the selected candidate's academic background, and is expected to be to the business law faculty, which is part of the College's Department of Accounting and MIS. Close collaboration with the Department of Finance faculty is expected.
