DESCRIPTION: Humboldt State University's Department of Kinesiology and Recreation Administration invites applications for an academic year full-time, (1.0 timebase) temporary faculty position in Physical Education Pedagogy for academic year 2017/18. Initial appointment will be for the Fall 2017 semester. Subsequent reappointment for Spring 2018 will be contingent upon satisfactory performance evaluation, budget and programmatic need.

Professional Qualifications: An earned MS/MA or equivalent in Kinesiology or related field from an accredited college or university is required at the time of appointment. An earned doctorate or equivalent degree in Kinesiology or related field from an accredited college or university at time of appointment is preferred.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:
  • Record of, or potential for, effective teaching in physical education pedagogy and adapted physical education using a variety of methodologies;
  • Commitment and/or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Professional Duties: Instructional assignments may include: Concepts of Teaching courses, Adapted Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education Programs, Elementary Methods, Secondary Methods, Curriculum and Instructional Strategies, Foundations of Kinesiology, Senior Seminar, Motor Assessment, Sport Pedagogy, and supervision of student teachers. Instructional assignments will be consistent with the programmatic needs of the department and students.

The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members in temporary positions are teaching, maintaining office hours and working collaboratively and productively with colleagues.

General Information: The Department of Kinesiology and Recreation Administration houses undergraduate programs in Kinesiology and Recreation Administration and a graduate program in Kinesiology.
