Assistant Professor of Nursing
Jefferson Community College, Watertown, NY, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) System, is conducting a search for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Nursing with additional administrative duties as department chair of its Nursing Department to begin June 1, 2017. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Math/Science, Technology, Health and Business, responsibilities include classroom teaching, overall management of the nursing program, including vision-setting, general administrative duties, fiscal duties, coordination, planning, mentoring of adjunct faculty, periodic review, external program promotional duties both locally and regionally, and effectiveness evaluation.
Required: Master’s degree in Nursing or Nursing Education, a current New York State RN license, and college teaching experience.
Preferred: Experience in a leadership role, preferably in education, with strong communication skills; computer literacy; experience in team teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development; ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds; ability to integrate critical thinking strategies into the teaching/learning process; knowledge of accreditation processes and requirements, preferably with ACEN; ability to develop and administer a budget; and ability to interact with external entities such as clinical sites.
