Director of Graduate Admissions - Academic Affairs
The Academic Affairs unit at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Director of Graduate Admissions and Recruitment. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director will manage the central responsibilities for graduate admissions and recruitment of new students to the University. This is a highly visible, professional position interacting regularly with senior administration, faculty, professional staff and other constituents outside the University. The Director is a member of the Enrollment Management team that strives to meet student needs, provide excellent customer service and achieve enrollment goals.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
•Establish strategic direction, priorities and goals for the Office of Graduate Admissions and Recruitment, using data to make informed proposals and decisions.
•Provide overall leadership in developing internal policies and procedures and implementing technological advances to continually improve the admission process.
•Work collaboratively with programs and colleges across the University system to develop and execute central recruitment, admissions and enrollment strategies for on-campus programs, as well as increase enrollment of underrepresented minorities and international students.
•Develop and execute a communication strategy for outreach to prospective site-based graduate students, including email, print and social media.
•Supervise staff in the Graduate Admissions and Recruitment Office, assigning duties, evaluating performance, and ensuring all staff receive appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
•Develop and administer the Office’s budget, including budget forecasting, planning and monitoring of expenditures.
•Collaborate with various University constituents, such as Graduate Education and Life, Academic Innovation, University Relations, Financial Aid, etc. to ensure consistent messaging and service follow-through.
•Monitor international, national and state-wide educational and enrollment trends.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
•Master's degree required; doctorate preferred
•At least five (5) years progressively responsible experience in higher education admissions, with graduate admissions experience preferred
•Strong experience using technology to support data management
•Familiarity with Banner and Hobsons ApplyYourself and Connect preferred
•Demonstrated experience in the management of a student information system for admissions and recruitment functions
•Demonstrated commitment to and a record of excellence in customer service
•Demonstrated commitment to diversity and social justice
