Primary Function of Organization Unit: Campus Enterprises is the lead retail and hospitality division of NC State University. The organization includes University Student Centers' management, NC State Bookstores, NC State Dining, Wolfpack One Card Operations, Lonnie Poole Golf Course, Trademark Licensing, Rave! Catering and Events Services, State of the Art, and Wolf Xpress Print & Copy Services. Each unit shares a common goal: deliver quality and efficient services with dedicated financial support for student activity and scholarships.
Essential Job Duties: **This is a repost. Previous applicants will need to reapply to be considered.** This position plays a key role on the Human Resources team, to deliver superior consultation to all supervisors and employees within Campus Enterprises. Primary responsibilities to include, but not limited to: serving as the division's managers' point of contact for review, recommendation and consultation in the areas of recruitment, employment, classification, compensation, organization design, international employment, payroll, policy administration, HRIS, leave administration, and workers' compensation. Due to the high volume of personnel actions in the Campus Enterprise Division this position will independently handle many functions with little oversight from the HR Manager to ensure prompt service is provided to the division for all human resources matters. This position will oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the human resources processes for all of Campus Enterprises. In addition, will supervise three full-time SHRA positions, and student and temporary employees, as necessary. The Sr. HR Generalist will work closely with members of the main Human Resources team and serve as a liaison to ensure policies and procedures are being followed. Will offer recommendations to Campus Enterprise HR Manager regarding necessary training and new procedures needed. This position reports to the HR Manager for Campus Enterprises, and will serve as the back-up to the HR Manager in their absence. Duties and responsibilitiies include, but are not limited to: HR Program * Knowledge of all the Human Resources disciplines, including knowledge of federal and state laws regarding employment, compensation, immigration, payroll, and leave. Apply human resources knowledge to primary responsibilities of, but not limited to: recruitment, employment, classification, compensation, organization design, international employment, payroll, policy administration, HRIS, leave administration, workers' compensation, and staff development. * Makes recommendations that align with the mission and vision of the division and the needs of the individual units while following HR best practices. Able to modify recommendations, as appropriate, to meet the needs of the units. * Provides superior guidance and interpretation on policies and procedures for Campus Enterprises managers and employees on a variety of HR functions. Makes recommendations as appropriate using best HR practice based upon application of Federal or State law or University policy. Ability to articulate interpretation of policies and procedures to division management and unit. * Creates processes using electronic sources to meet goals for temporary and student hiring and makes adjustment as necessary * Makes recommendations for process improvements and reduction of work flow as Campus Enterprises. * Develops operating practices, for Campus Enterprise Division to utilize, based upon HR best practices, and adheres to and enforces compliance. * Considers division mission and vision when developing performance goals for staff and creating operating practices. * Strategizes on the operating processes and develops recommendations on programmatic areas. Program Administration * Leads and manages all aspects of the recruitment and employment process for all SHRA/EHRA, temporary and student positions, and serves as the subject matter expert for Campus Enterprises. Assigns tasks to team members to order to meet goals, and follows up on the status of assignments. * Recommends appropriate training, skills, and tools for supervisors to make hiring decisions. Provides training, as needed, to hiring supervisors. * Examines all SHRA position reclassification requests to ensure compliance with the Campus Enterprises' organizational philosophy. Collaborates with supervisors on the creation of new positions to validate the proper classification. Consults with CE HR Manager on reclassification requests. Confer with central HR as necessary to process all new position and reclassification requests in the system. * Confer with CE HR Manager on compensation requests. * Collects and communicates data and information for CE HR Manager and provides further detail and explanation as requested. * Works with HR Manager and other business partners to ascertain ways to improve current data management processes. * Administer the leave administrative program for the entire division, including Family Medical Leave, Shared Leave, Short Term Disability and Workers' Compensation. Accurately track and monitor employees' leave records. * Assists the HR Manager in developing HR department's goals for the work period. Managing Work and Performance * Independently plans daily work routine by using best operating practices to accomplish tasks, and in a timely manner. * Develops new and innovative ways to accomplish routine tasks based upon thorough analysis of viable alternatives. Automate processes whenever possible, collaborate with appropriate technology representatives to accomplish automation goals. * Collaborates with CE HR Manager to develop metrics for which operations will be measured. * Supervises three SHRA full-time positions and student and temporary employees, as necessary. Determines and prepares work plans, and conducts performance appraisals. Provides guidance and coaching to staff to ensure the needs for the HR department are met in a timely and efficient manner. Collaborates with subordinates to determine expectations for subordinates. Follows up on status and provides guidance throughout the work period. * Leads and manages all aspects of the recruitment and employment process for all SHRA/EHRA, temporary and student positions, assigns tasks to team members to order to meet goals, and follows up on the status of assignments.
Department Required Skills: Knowledge of Human Resources employment laws and best practices in human resources procedures and methods. Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships and be a member of productive team. Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills Demonstrated ability to multi-task. HRIS and recruitment systems experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel. Experience using Google mail and google docs. Prefer experience with Microsoft Visio.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: - Bachelor's degree in related field of study - SHRM, HRCI or related HR certification(s) -At least five years of experience in human resources
