Job Description: POSITION TITLE: MULTIMEDIA SPECIALIST SFMDIA-SPEC01 STATUS: Full Time DEPARTMENT: Instructional Media Services DIVISION: Information Technology CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt UNION: Support and Technical REPORTS TO: Manager, Media Services PLACEMENT: Support Staff Grade 7 MINIMUM PAY RATE $43,672 annually Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. POSITION SUMMARY Joliet Junior College has three campuses and three satellite centers with multimedia technology at all locations. The college recognizes the advantages of technology in our learning environments and embraces our instructors' use of technology in the classroom. The Multimedia specialist will be responsible for improving classroom design, enhancing existing classrooms, maintaining our multimedia technology, installing new equipment and driving the futurization of technology at the college. This position will provide training and support for all campus technology including projectors, TVs/monitors, sound systems, classroom capture, device integration, control system function and configuration. The position also will provide assistance with video production and be expected to set up and operate audio and visual equipment for live events on campus. Good judgment, initiative, and independent action will be expected as an all-campus multimedia representative of the IT division. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Responsible for ensuring the functionality of audio, video, and multimedia technologies at all JJC locations. 2. Design, install, maintain, and replace multimedia systems and equipment. 3. Provide technical support and training to faculty and staff for classroom AV and presentation technology. 4. Research and prepare recommendations on purchases and replacement of multimedia related equipment. 5. AV technician, sound engineer, camera operator for live events, webinars and video conferencing. 6. Keep an inventory of system schematics and maintain firmware / software updates for all multimedia technology. 7. Maintain, update and repair the closed circuit cable system 8. Assist with the daily reservation, distribution and setup of AV equipment; 9. Assist with digital signage operation, video production, graphic design, print signage creation and mounting, photography and content creation for any service offered by media services. 10. General office responsibilities, including phone, data entry and maintaining clean environment. 11. Perform related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2. Three (3) years of AV experience. 3. Knowledge of AV best practices. 4. Vehicle to travel between JJC's 6 campuses/centers. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Active CTS holder 2. Experience with Extron, Crestron and/or AMX control systems. 3. Experience with Networked AV equipment. 4. Experience with Live AV setups. 5. Experience with permanent installation of AV equipment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1. Equipment (50lbs. or less) will be lifted, hung or transported via carts throughout campus. 2. Power tools will be used. 3. Office and classroom clean-up will require ability to kneel on floor and/or bend at waist. 4. Campus is large and employee will be expected to walk multiple miles within 8hr. shift. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Most duties performed indoors; some exterior AV setup/production may be required.
