About The Unit:

Unit Job Summary: The Chang Lab is developing a program using mouse models to complement the program in metabolic disorders in humans. In particular we are developing mouse models of metabolic disruption and obesity and study how gut microbes regulate metabolic disturbance in the gut. The Sr. Research Technologist will be in charge of complex mouse breeding involving generation of triple transgenic mice on knockout backgrounds, and triple knock-out mice. Maintain and supervise the mouse colonies of the Chang Lab as well as those who work with mice. Perform genotyping. Sr. Tech will also present results in lab meetings Utilize in vitro technologies to examine gut microbial and host interactions in the context of metabolism . Maintain laboratory notebooks and participate in general laboratory organization. Provide instruction to lab members supervise the training of new laboratory personnel and students, and assist in didactic teaching. This will include in particular teaching the isolation of specific cell subsets from the intestinal tissue and performing functional cellular assays. Give presentations of results at lab meetings.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted required. Advanced degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted preferred.

Unit Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant research experience required.
