Degree and Area of Specialization: Bachelors Degree required; preferably in neuroscience.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: Applicants must be willing to learn and conduct behavioral studies using rodents, including analysis of gait and motor control. A minimum of 1 year prior experience with standard rodent colony maintenance (including husbandry and genotyping) is desired, but experience with other mammalian systems will also be considered. Additionally, applicants who have experience in isolating and culturing primary neurons from rodents, immunofluorescence staining, transfection, electroporation, and/or confocal microscopy is preferred.
Position Summary: The laboratory of Dr. Anjon Audhya, in the Departement of Biomolecular Chemistry, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is currently seeking a research specialist with a background in neuroscience, who is interested in uncovering the mechanisms by which various mutations cause peripheral neuropathy. The laboratory has generated a number of rodent models, which harbor mutations that cause disease in patients, and seeks to define impacts to neuronal physiology that underlie disease.
