University of North Texas - Police Corporal
**This position is open only to internal candidates in the Police Department.**The Police Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Police Corporal to join our team. * This position is responsible for enforcement of criminal laws, ordinances, traffic laws, and University regulations related to the welfare of students, faculty, staff, and the general public. * Work involves patrolling in patrol cars, bicycles and on foot, day and night, of all campus areas and surrounding jurisdiction. * Position may also be assigned to specialized functions such as criminal investigation, canine unit, traffic enforcement, narcotics, task force participation, administration, or other specialized duties. * Position serves as a Field Training Officer, promotes crime awareness through presentations, pamphlets, flyers, and crime alert bulletins to the University and surrounding communities, Investigates crimes on campus and surrounding communities and prepares prosecution reports. * Position may function in a lead capacity over staff employees by monitoring/assigning work. The successful candidate will possess two years police experience including training, a minimum of one year of which was completed with the University of North Texas Police Department; active peace officer license from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE); meet all minimum requirements as stated in BI 8898 Police Officer Recruit and BI 8901 Police Officer classification descriptions; and, work performance which meets or exceeds acceptable performance standards based on current and prior year performance evaluations. Must be at least 21 years of age, or at least 18 years of age and meet one of the following requirements: have at least 60 completed credit hours of study at an accredited college or university, or received an associate's degree from an accredited college or university, or received an honorable discharge from the United States armed forces after at least two years of active service.MANDATORY CONTINUING REQUIREMENTS Employees in this class must meet and maintain the requirements for licensure and continuing licensure as a peace officer as established by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE); possess/maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
