About the Position

The Student Engagement Coordinator manages the student organization system, designs and executes successful trainings, consultations for student organizations and advisors, and oversees policies and procedures for Student Organizations. The incumbent works collaboratively with the Student Leadership Coordinator to ensure the quality, development, and success of SJSU student organizations. This position works with the other members of the student engagement team to provide related campus activities and programming

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Coordinate the Fall and Spring Student Organization Faire Develop and coordinate the annual (spring) Student Organization Recognition Banquet. Develop and implement a training and development series for student organizations Support student organization advisors by providing the necessary tools to successfully advise groups (trainings, informational meetings, newsletters, policy updates/reminders etc.). Assist in the coordination of the Leadership Conference Develop assessment methods and tools consistent with the CAS (Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education) standards to track student leadership growth and development at SJSU. Serve as programming liaison to the Gender Equity, PRIDE, MOSAIC Cross Cultural, and Cesar Chavez Community Action Centers. Serve as a resource for issues that may arise in organizations such as community building, wellness education, risk management, crisis intervention, policy development, student rights and responsibilities, etc. Provide support for Student Involvement programs and sponsored activities, including but not limited to Orientation. Meet with petitioning student organizations, advising them on the development of their constitutions and by-laws Facilitate the completion of all required CSU documents Serve as consultant for risk management issues, as well as program development and advising Coordinate RSO funding (request intake, organization education, program assessment, and financial record keeping) Advise the Internal Affairs committee in accordance with Associated Students bylaws Assist the Leadership Development Coordinator in the development of training, retreats, and additional leadership development opportunities for Associated Student officers, board, and committee members
