This position will supervise the medical services and treatment program for all student-athletes. This position will have oversight of all athletic training staff, policies, and procedures.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to overseeing the administration of the athletic training room, and health care of the athletes; recruiting, coordinating and supervising all athletic trainers; overseeing training coverage of all athletic home and away events; evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of all athletic injuries; maintenance of records; insurance policies and procedures, department budget; and equipment purchases. The Director will be responsible for managing the entire circle of care to include relationships with doctors, hospitals, insurance, physical therapists, surgical centers, x-ray technicians, etc. * Serves as primary liaison to the medical community on behalf of the athletic department. This includes the University Health Center, private medical practices, and partnership pharmacy to ensure quality care for the student-athletes as well as economical pricing on all services.* Serves as the primary administrator responsible for contracts and agreements with partnership physicians, doctors, hospitals, rehab facilities, etc. Oversight of the entire circle of care program for all sports.* Provides and prescribes proper physical therapy and rehabilitative exercise for injured student-athletes. Provides proper first aid care for injured student-athletes, diagnose injuries as needed, direct day to day activities at practices and events as it relates to injury care.* Assists with student-athlete medical insurance program and serves as the day to day liaison to the risk management employee in charge of athletic insurance. Assist the CFO with the insurance procurement process and analytics of insurance expenditures.* Communicates with coaches, support personnel, and administration on status and physical condition of student-athletes. Responsible for assisting with surgical arrangements and managing the appropriate communication structure given privacy laws.* Plans and manages the athletics training budget, including ordering and inventory of athletics training and medical supplies. Develop policies and procedures for all athletic training processes. * Serves as a consultant to the Executive Team for the drug education, counseling and testing of student-athletes. Assist with sports psychology negotiation and participate in senior level discussions on student-athlete welfare and enhancement.* Supervises use of the athletic training room to ensure quality care and athlete safety. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in related field and five years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:* Thorough knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.* Extensive knowledge of Texas rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).* Strong planning and project management skills.* Ability to direct and manage the work of others.* Any specialize certification as requirement by the department.
