General Description of Position:

Oversee the day-to-day and gameday management of assigned athletic events to include, but is not limited to, pre-event planning and coordination of department personnel and outside vendors and services, setup and breakdown of facility, compliance with NCAA, Big 12, and ADA policies and procedures, coordination of officials and visiting teams, crowd control management, game management, establishing relationships and procedures with law enforcement, EMS and other emergency personnel, implement venue policy and procedures. Serve as site manager for all Big 12 Championships and NCAA post season competitions hosted by K-State Athletics.  Ensures excellent customer service.

Organize, direct, coordinate, evaluate and schedule part-time workers for athletic events held in multiple athletic facilities to ensure adequate workers are scheduled and available to work each assigned athletic event; interview, hire, train and oversee a large number of part-time event workers.

Job Description:

 --Uses independent judgement and discretion to oversee the day-to-day and gameday management of assigned athletic events to include, but is not limited to, pre-event planning and coordination of department personnel and outside vendors and services, setup and breakdown of facility, compliance with NCAA, Big 12, and ADA policies and procedures, coordination of officials and visiting teams, crowd control management, game management, establishing relationships and procedures with law enforcement, EMS and other emergency personnel, implement venue policy and procedures. Serve as site manager for all Big 12 Championships and NCAA post season competitions hosted by K-State Athletics. Ensures excellent customer service.

Lead Coordinator for special events as assigned.

 --Develop and maintain event profiles, manuals and/or information packets.

 --Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree

Required Minimum Qualifications:

--Two to five years of event management experience at a collegiate athletic or professional sports level

--Experience overseeing and directing workers

--Budget management

--Strategic and operational planning and delivery

--Must have excellent oral and written communications skills

--Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required

--Must possess a valid driver's license at all times

--Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail

--Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

--Must be able to work outside in extreme weather conditions

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working at an NCAA Division 1 athletic department in event and game day management.
