The University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville, Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery, seeks an up to full-time faculty position for a General Surgeon at the tenure or non-tenure accruing level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. Major responsibilities include building a general surgery practice as well as providing teaching, patient care, and research, contributing to an extremely diverse academic general surgery practice inclusive of growing an advanced GI/MIS, endoscopic, and oncologic program. 

This position will report to the Chief of General Surgery and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville.

Following is a general description of duties and responsibilities: 

  • Provide and maintain a high level of quality in-patient intermediate care services in all aspects of General Surgery/Minimally Invasive Surgery and/or Critical Care at UF Health North. 
  • Provide clinical teaching of trainees in General Surgery and participate in the educational program. 
  • Be responsible for excellent communication with primary care physicians. 
  • Assist in marketing the General Surgery/Minimally Invasive Surgery and/or Critical Care Programs to community physicians and managed care organizations. 
  • Participate in monthly division meetings, administrative functions and institutional committees as requested.

The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is the largest of the three UF colleges - medicine, nursing and pharmacy - located on the approximately 110-acre UF Health Jacksonville campus. Advertised Salary:

Salary and academic appointment will be commensurate with training and level of experience; benefits are excellent.

Candidates should be MD/DO and BC/BE trained in General Surgery.
