Job Description:

The University of Florida College of Pharmacy is seeking pharmacists in all areas of practice to serve as part-time Career Coaches for students in the Doctor of Pharmacy Curriculum. The purpose of a Career Coach is to provide career development guidance to individual students as they progress through the Pharm.D program. The College is currently recruiting new Career Coaches to begin Fall 2017.

The time commitment is dependent upon the number of students you are interested in coaching, but will typically be one hour per semester for each student. There is flexibility in the days/times the Career Coach completes the assigned responsibilities and the discussion with students may be accomplished face-to-face or via online videoconferencing. Feedback to a student will be via written assessments and verbal interaction. Therefore, the responsibilities can be accomplished anywhere and do not require coming to a campus. Salary will be based on the number of students that are coached each year.

Responsibilities of the Career Coach are to review documentation of continuing professional development (CPD) cycles that the student has posted to an online program. The documentation will provide evidence of their career goals, plan to achieve their goals, learning activities they complete to achieve their goals, and a self-evaluation of their progress. The Career Coach will provide feedback to the student in two stages of each CPD cycle. The first step is to provide feedback on their career goals. The second step is to provide feedback on their self-directed progress towards achievement of their career goals. Students will complete a total of three CPD cycles throughout the Doctor of Pharmacy Curriculum. A Career Coach will guide the same student(s) across the entire four year curriculum and, therefore, have a key role in their maturation as a pharmacist. 

The Career Coach position will report to the Director of Personal and Professional Development and Curriculum and have a faculty appointment within the Department of Pharmacotherapy & Translational Research.

The College will provide an orientation session for new Career Coaches using an online lecture(s). There will also be a written Career Coach Manual and a resource person to contact when there are questions.

Advertised Salary:

Salary will be based on the number of students that are coached each year. 

Minimum Requirements:

Licensed or retired pharmacist in any area of practice.

Preferred Qualifications:

Interested applicants should have experience in being a preceptor, facilitator and/or in mentoring young pharmacists. Pharmacists with active involvement in professional organizations and/or in advancing the profession and a current appointment as a preceptor or facilitator are preferred. 

We are currently not accepting applications from pharmacists currently in post-graduate training such as residency, fellowship or pre-doctoral candidates.
