Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia and the School of Engineering and Applied Science seeks qualified candidates for a Research Associate in the lab of Professor Keivan Esfarjani in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The candidate will conduct research in the broad area of thermal transport. The research work will involve modeling of transport of charge and heat using first-principles DFT methods. The successful candidate will also be interacting with the experimental groups working on nanoscale heat transfer at UVA.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics or related field by the time of appointment. Candidates should also have a strong background in solid-state physics, expertise in the usage of DFT codes such as SIESTA and Quantum Espresso, transport formalism and molecular dynamics simulations, as well as extensive experience in computer programming. Familiarity with the Fortran language would be a plus.
