Position Summary: Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure and ensures that hardware, operating systems, software, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards; responsible for Linux and Windows systems that support infrastructure and Linux, Windows and Application systems that support Asset Management; ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources; maintains networking (WAN/LAN/wired/wireless) standards and troubleshoots networking issues; installs new/rebuilt existing servers and systems and configures hardware, peripherals, printers, services, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with organizational standards, and project and operational requirements; contributes to and maintains system and security standards; develops and maintains installation and configuration procedures; researches and recommends innovative, and wherever possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks; and performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs, such as backups; performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, media is recycled and sent off site as necessary, and maintains retention schedule. Performs regular file archival and purge as necessary; provides Tier III support investigating and troubleshooting issues; creates, updates, and deletes user accounts and user access; repairs and recovers from hardware or software failures; applies patches and upgrades on a regular basis; upgrades administrative tools and utilities on a regular basis; performs Change Management on servers; configures/adds new services as necessary; and upgrades and configures system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications; maintains operational, configuration, and other procedures; performs hardware upgrades and resource optimization as required; and maintains data center environmental and monitoring equipment; responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice. No regular travel required.
Faculty: Minimum Qualifications Support Staff: Minimum Requirements Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in computer science, information systems, business, or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience with maintaining an infrastructure in a large organization; experience with system administration of a complex technology infrastructure, supporting user's technology needs; network troubleshooting; Active Directory, Windows 7/8/10; Windows Server 2008/2012, MacOS, and Linux; enterprise software licensing and deployment, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM); Asset Management; computer builds; information security and compliance; physical and virtual Servers, VMware and Citrix; networked and local storage; mobile devices; database and backup administration; experience with setup and support of hardware; designing, configuring and testing computer hardware; and networking and operating system software; and knowledge of networking (WAN/LAN/wired/wireless); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science; Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Unix and Microsoft; four plus years' experience in system administration supporting Windows, MacOS and/or Linux and in desktop support; excellent trouble-shooting analysis and problem solving skills; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; knowledge of backup fundamentals, tape/drive backups, automation; scripting, IT Security and Compliance Standards; experience/knowledge of networking (WAN/LAN/wired/wireless); knowledge of applications/systems development methodologies; knowledge of software design tools; experience supporting a team of technical support staff; experience with maintaining infrastructure and complex systems for Clinical, Business, and Academic specialties; excellent decision making skills; strong project management/coordination skills.
