Rowan University is seeking a Community Management Specialist to support web-based recruitment and retention efforts through all of the University’s primary social media outlets. This position requires expertise in social media, content development and analytics, and the ability to use technology to engage constituents based on data and forward-thinking philosophies. This role requires superior written and verbal communication skills, as the incumbent will collaborate with members of the Web Services team and other key communicators to increase the brand’s digital fluency and contribute to the overall recruitment and retention efforts of the University.

Under the management of the Social Media Coordinator, located in the Division of Student Life, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

o Monitoring, engaging and interacting with the University’s social media communities on a daily basis and serving as an extension of the campus experience as it relates to customer service.

o Organizing and creating a 365-day calendar each year for message propagation across all social media platforms, as well as developing new messages in real-time based on current events, while adhering to the University’s voice and standards of image/message consistency.

o Researching and implementing the latest industry social media best practices, and defining new and creative approaches to communicating via social media outlets.

o Establishing benchmarks and tracking/optimizing performance of all social media content on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis.

o Assisting the Social Media Coordinator in the implementation of a social media strategy to expand and strengthen the University’s recruitment and retention efforts.

o Assisting the Social Media Coordinator in the implementation of a social media policy.

o Contributing to a variety of web-based projects as needed with the Director of Web Services, Social Media Coordinator and Insights & Campaign Management Specialist.

o Collaborating with a variety of on- and off-campus team members, which includes but is not limited to designers, developers, writers, photographers and vendors.

o Some evening and weekend hours possibly required.

REQUIREMENTS:

All applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent education.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in marketing field, preferably with an emphasis in social media, content creation and analytics.
  • A strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of web-based technologies including content management systems.
  • Ability to work independently AND as part of a larger team; solving problems with minimal supervision.
  • Experience interacting with end users and project clients (those with or without technical skill).
  • Skillful in creative problem solving and resolving conflict.
  • Deadline-oriented & works well under pressure.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects.
