The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Eastern Washington University invites applications for a full-time (9-month) tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant or associate professor level to begin September 2017.

Position responsibilities include teaching, student advising, scholarship, and service to the university/community/profession. We are seeking a faculty member who can teach in their area of expertise and contribute to departmental scholarship. Opportunities to teach in several areas of the curriculum are available; qualified candidates with all areas of expertise are invited to apply. The successful candidate will possess strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Eastern Washington University is a regional, comprehensive university with its main campus in Cheney, WA. The DPT Program is located at EWU Spokane, a primarily health sciences campus, with state-of-the-art space and facilities. The DPT Program is 2 years 9 months in length, has 9 full-time faculty positions, and admits 38 students each fall. Opportunities for summer teaching may be available. The Spokane area is the heart of the Inland Northwest, with excellent restaurants, theater, shopping, skiing, hiking, lakes, and high quality schools and housing.

Conditions of Employment

if the selected candidate is hired in with the rank of Associate Professor, the candidate must go up for tenure in his/her third year.




Required Qualifications:
  • Earned doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent)
    • ABD considered, but doctorate must be completed by start date
  • State of Washington PT license or license eligible
  • Clinical practice experience as a physical therapist

Additionally, candidates must demonstrate interest, experience and/or ability to promote cultural competency and/or diversity.



Preferred Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

  • Established record of scholarship (peer-reviewed publications, national presentations, grant funding)
  • Experience teaching at the university level
  • Current membership in the American Physical Therapy Association
