Anticipated Tenure Track Faculty Openings Hotel/Restaurant Management for Fall 2017
Teaching and learning are the central functions of Bergen Community College, and as such, its faculty plays a central role in supporting and fulfilling the College mission. The faculty has the primary responsibility for developing and carrying out effective instruction, counseling and library services. Since its founding in 1965, the College has been proud of its mix of tradition and innovation in the process of challenging students to raise questions, examine evidence, validate opinions, make decisions and communicate ideas effectively.
Successful candidates must be able to teach both day and evening classes including weekends, be committed to assessing student success and learning outcomes, assessing and developing new programs/curricula, demonstrating competence in instructional technology, especially on-line instruction and willing to accept assignments at any of our three locations (Paramus, Hackensack and Lyndhurst). All positions require excellent organizational and communication skills as well as demonstrated scholarship and professional involvement. Candidates invited for an interview will be required to do a teaching demonstration and present a teaching portfolio.
Listed below are our anticipated tenure track faculty openings for Fall 2017.
Hotel/Restaurant Management: (Job Code F-HRM-MANAGEMENT)
Required: B.S./B.A. degree in Business or Hospitality-related field. Entrepreneurial experience in managing a department within a hotel/resort/Cruise ship or a hotel general manager. Candidate should have experience in any of the following hotel management fields: food and beverage operations, housekeeping, front desk operation or other. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Management or Hospitality-related field. Minimum of 5 years industry work experience managing a restaurant/ catering establishment. Demonstrated proficiency in teaching at the college level is highly desirable.
Hotel/Restaurant Management: (Job Code F-HRM-CULINARY)
Required: B.S./B.A. degree in Business or Hospitality-related field. Experience in all aspects of restaurant operations. Minimum of 8 years professional chef experience who has been an executive chef in a hotel/resort/private club/cruise ship/ who possess the following skills – old and new world cooking techniques/butchering skills/knowledge of aging/curing and smoking techniques/ fruit and vegetable carving. Ability to compete in culinary competitions is a plus.. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
