Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion

Job description

The University of Arkansas Fayetteville invites applications for the Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion. This is a full-time 12-month position with excellent benefits. In addition, the successful candidate will be eligible for a tenured appointment in the appropriate academic discipline. 

Reporting directly to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and working closely with both the Provost and the Chancellor, the Vice Provost will serve as the university’s chief diversity officer and have the opportunity to foster a diverse and inclusive campus climate. 

This position requires a strong, collaborative leader with the skills to develop, refine, and implement diversity and inclusion frameworks across campus and to advance the university’s diversity and social justice initiatives. This individual’s perspective and experiences will demonstrate the university’s priority: understanding differences in race, ethnicity, culture, socioeconomic class, religion, political perspectives, geographic origins, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, physical capabilities, veteran status, and intellectual proclivities contributes to the institution’s ability to examine issues from multiple unique perspectives. 

The successful candidate will be a strategic and innovative visionary who has demonstrated leadership in advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives in higher education and a track record of supporting collaborations across diverse departments and units. Having a proven record of academic scholarship and extramural funding, this results-oriented individual will possess strong administrative and academic experience as well as a record of success implementing systemic change strategies that demonstrate the university’s guiding priority to enhance a welcoming, inclusive environment for all faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
