FISCAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Position Summary: The Fiscal Support Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of fiscal related fiscal tasks that are standard or regular support duties within an assigned department or program. This position is governed by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
This position is responsible for identifying, inventorying and attaching tags on assets owned by the University.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Add, delete and update fixed assets records in the Banner System
- Perform periodic physical inventories of the University's assets
- Communicate with faculty and staff on asset additions, deletions and transfers
- Maintain the University's low value-high risk asset database
- Occasional travel to other campus locations is required
- Position requires walking and standing for prolonged periods of time
- Position requires pushing, lifting or carrying light to moderate objects (25lbs) and ability to pull, bend, kneel and reach overhead
General Days/Hours: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday
Other: The applicant must be conscientious and detail-oriented, have excellent record keeping and communication skills and the willingness to locate and tag assets on a university campus.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products and extensive experience using Microsoft Excel.
Preference will be given to those with prior inventory experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability: Knowledge of database accounting and management principles. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations of assigned section. Knowledge of computers and software application programs. Knowledge of customer service techniques. Ability to record fiscal data and manipulate data to generate complex reports and documents. Ability to conduct research and perform basic quantitative quality assurance reviews.
Minimum Qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of bookkeeping, basic accounting, billing, or related experience. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
