Primary Function of Organization Unit: NC State provides a rich, collaborative environment for corporate, government and non-profit partners who want to tap into NC State's recognized expertise in areas of research important to the innovative enterprise. The Office of Partnerships & Economic Development connects ts corporate and governmental partners with researchers and other resources at the university in order to foster innovation and stimulate economic growth. The Office of Partnerships & Economic Development is a part of the Office of Research, Innovation, & Economic Development (ORIED). ORIED supports research, scholarship, and creative activities of the NC State community, facilitates a collaborative research and innovation environment, and translates results into social, economic, and technological development across North Carolina and around the world.

Essential Job Duties: The Director of Marketing and Communications is the primary communication officer for the Office of Partnerships & Economic Development (OPED), part of NC State's Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development (ORIED). The Director will create and implement an aggressive strategic plan for marketing and communications approaches that raise awareness of OPED and drive lead generation. The Director will be responsible for: - Leading the creative development, writing, and production of both print and electronic materials to include graphic identity, brochures, presentations, fact sheets, newsletters, and web and social media content. - Collaborating with the Events and Outreach Manager to develop materials and communications strategies designed to increase awareness of events and programs. - Conceptualizing and leading long- and short-term projects geared towards communicating and marketing the unique value proposition of OPED and ORIED. - Building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with external and internal vendors and service providers to effectively execute projects and drive innovative communication strategies. - Overseeing all photography needs for Centennial Campus, including covering special events and keeping photography archives organized and up-to-date - Managing and overseeing all executive presentations, including development of slides, content and audio-visual needs. - Developing and implementing a social media strategy - Partnering with NC State and ORIED's communications team to ensure alignment with ORIED branding, communications strategy, and mission. - Communicating frequently with the University's top administrators, corporate executives, donors, peers, faculty, staff, students and the media.

Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least five years of relevant experience required.

Department Required Skills: - Demonstrated history of developing and implementing dynamic, multi-dimensional marketing and communication strategies - Demonstrated experience writing press releases, blogs, copy for printed materials and web materials - Expertise in social media strategy and implementation - Exceptional organizational and communication skills along with the ability to work with faculty, administrators, industry partners, and other internal and external contacts - Experience leading and participating in team projects, building and sustaining meaningful professional relationships that position the organization, its people, and programs for success - Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools, design software - Thorough knowledge of best practices in written and multi-media communications development required.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: - Seven + years of relevant communications and/or marketing experience preferred. - Experience with graphic design software (such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) and general design principles is preferred.
