I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

It is the academic mission of the George Washington University's School of Business (GWSB) to be a preeminent business school recognized for scholarly research, teaching excellence, innovative curricula and focused on the responsible management of organizations in the global environment.

As part of the GW University mission, a collaboration of several GW schools and colleges will be involved in the development of the GW Executive Education (GWEE) program under the umbrella of GWSB. GWEE is built on the premise that integrating the expertise of multiple schools of learning will create greater benefit for client organizations, executives and professionals.

The primary focus for the Executive Director is to lead GW Executive Education (GWEE). The Executive Director reports to the Dean of the School and supervises full time and temporary staff. As GW EE grows, it is anticipated that additional staff positions will need to be created to support programs and operations.

The key responsibilities are:

Manage and develop all aspects of GW's Executive Education program and build relationships with companies, government agencies, associations, and other organizations that can benefit all aspects of GWSB and University programs and operations.

Build a comprehensive management and strategy portfolio comprising open-enrollment and custom executive education programs.

Lead efforts to promote GWSB and the University to key constituencies and develop financial models to meet revenue, growth, and profit targets in executive education programs

Emphasize an entrepreneurial focus to maximize internal and external resources, identify niches for future programs, pursue opportunities, finalize contractual agreements and build partnerships with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders.

Continually develop executive education programs through collaboration with other GWSB and University senior leaders to establish program strategies, objectives, long-term goals, policies, and procedures.

Assess market trends and viability of contemplated program offerings; Identify prospects and their needs.
Develop, maintain, and expand strategic client relationships in corporate, government and NGO sectors.
Market and sell executive education and management training solutions by leading the pre-sales and proposal processes.
Oversee development, delivery and quality of executive education and training programs, including online components
Collaborate with academic leadership and faculty to identify, encourage, and cultivate qualified instructors and curriculum design.
Create program activity reports, including analysis of financial performance.
Generate revenue and develop, administer and monitor the EE program budget.
Provide feedback to clients and instructors that can be used for improvement.

Conduct hiring, training and performance evaluation for professional staff and instructional faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:

Advanced degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 10 years of relevant professional experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

PhD., EdD, DBA preferred.

Knowledge of Executive Education on a national and international scale.

Experience in business development, program development, and marketing with working knowledge of sales, consulting, and public relations.

Strategic planner and strong presentation skills with a track record of growing business and organizations.

Progressive experience working with executives in an academic, business, or government setting.

Knowledge of and experience in educational program design.

Organizational, management, and project planning skills.

Excellent writing and oral communication ability.

Computer literacy (word processing, spreadsheets, and internet navigation).

Knowledge of the media and communications fields preferred.
