Florida State University (FSU) Libraries seek an experienced, collaborative, creative, and service-oriented Director of Graduate and Faculty Services to direct the work of librarians and staff in the Scholars Commons. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Research and Learning Services (RLS) the incumbent will guide a diverse team of seven librarians and four staff to provide top-tier user-focused services that support current and emerging forms of scholarship and teaching. An integral part of the RLS leadership team, the Director works with colleagues to develop and shape the strategy of the RLS group which is tasked with delivering public services to the FSU community.
Develop the vision and strategic plan for the Scholars Commons team, with a particular focus on providing library services for graduate students and faculty
Provide leadership and guidance to a diverse and motivated team of librarians and staff; foster a positive and collaborative work environment
Guide the FSU Libraries' subject librarian/liaison program and steering committee
Represent the Libraries on a variety of library and campus committees, facilitating collaborative relationships with a variety of campus partners
Organize scholarly events in the libraries, such as research symposia, FSU Author's Day, etc.
May serve one or more departments as subject librarian
Provide leadership in collection development and management best practices in conjunction with librarians and the collection development staff
Participate in the Libraries' virtual reference service
Participate and take on leadership roles in professional associations at the regional, state, and national level
Participate in research, publication, and other professional and scholarly activities
Master's degree in Library and Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association, or other relevant graduate degree
Experience managing staff at all levels
Demonstrated ability to work independently and to collaborate effectively with staff and with people of diverse backgrounds
Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement effective programs, complex projects, and services
Strong grasp of current issues, trends, and technologies impacting higher education and academic libraries
Creative and analytical thinking skills and good problem solving ability
Effective oral and written communication skills
Flexibility in adapting to changing organizational priorities and technological environments
Ability to meet the library's requirement for scholarship, service, and leadership
High level of professionalism and commitment to the organization and its mission.
Willingness to work some weekend and evening hours
Minimum of five years' professional experience in an academic or research library
Experience working in a research intensive institution
Experience collaborating with and building relationships with graduate students and faculty
Interest in new modes of scholarship
Experience writing, obtaining, and managing grants

Anticipated Salary Range
Salary commensurate with experience
This is a Faculty position.
Monday-Friday and willingness to work some weekend and evening hours.

This is a full-time, 12-month non-tenured faculty appointment. Benefits include 22 vacation days, 13 days of sick leave, group medical, dental, and life insurance, an optional retirement program or state retirement, and no state or local income tax. With supervisor*s approval, may qualify for University tuition scholarship for up to six credit hours each semester.
