Duties: The primary role of this position is to facilitate the banking of human samples and manage the allocation and storage in the Host-Microbial Analytics & Repository Core. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: preparing experimental materials, planning and coordinating the processing, documentation, and cataloging of human specimens. As needed, the candidate will provide direct support to others in the lab. In addition to above, the Research Specialist will be expected to perform tissue culture, immunohistochemistry, animal handling and care, including breeding, animal tissue harvest and sample processing, microscopy, and molecular techniques such as isolation and quantification of DNA, RNA, protein, cloning, qPCR, and immunoblots. The Specialist will be strongly encouraged to attend lab meetings, seminars and take part in project discussions.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 1 year to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelors in biology, chemistry, or molecular biology, or related field preferred. 2 to 4 years of experience preferred.
Must have strong organizational, excellent written and oral communication skills, and must be reliable ; ability to coordinate several projects concurrently is essential; willingness to learn new techniques is an asset.
