Duties: The Penn Wharton Public Policy Initiative informs policy discussions in Washington, DC by supporting the production of data-driven, non-normative research on issues at the intersection of business and public policy. To this end, the Initiative is seeking to hire two Research Associates with a deep interest in economic research, to assist with faculty research on a number of public policy topics, including housing finance, tax reform, health care and entitlements reform, and the federal budget. Job responsibilities include collecting and maintaining databases, performing statistical and econometric analyses, writing research reports, and providing research-related technical programming support. A thorough understanding of economics, ability to use statistical and programming tools, and self- motivation are highly valued in performing these functions. The Research Associate position is based in Penn Wharton PPI s Philadelphia office and reports to the Director of PPI s Data Warehouse.
This is a 3 year position with the option to extend. PPI s Research Associate program is modeled on similar programs at the Federal Reserve and NBER, but with a stronger focus on empirical research related to public policy, and we anticipate that the successful candidate, after two years with PPI, will seek to go on to graduate programs in economics or related disciplines.
Position is contingent upon final approval of a grant request that is in progress
