The University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy seeks a Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Pharmacist who will participate in the didactic and clinical programs located on our Rockford, Illinois campus. The successful candidate will play an integral role in our Rockford Regional Pharmacy Program/Campus through didactic teaching, scholarly activity, as well as precepting students on Introductory and Advanced Pharmacy Practice experiences (IPPEs/APPEs).
This position is a full-time, non-tenure track clinical faculty appointment. Depending on the candidate's interest, clinical practice will be in either Internal Medicine or Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, a 254-bed non-profit tertiary care hospital with a level one trauma center serving the greater Rockford region. Responsibilities of this position are dependent on the candidate's interest in either of the two stated specialties. The clinical pharmacist performs a variety of professional level functions in the development, implementation and provision of drug therapy and education services to physicians, residents, medical students, nurses, pharmacists and other health professionals. They will work closely with the OSF St. Anthony's Regional Director of Pharmacy, Operations Manager, and Pharmacist Supervisor to provide decision support in the areas of drug formulary management, drug usage patterns, and dispensing procedures. This individual will perform a variety of clinical pharmacist functions involving the promotion and education of appropriate use of medications within OSF Healthcare. This may include but is not limited to starting/participating in QA/QM projects related to pertinent medication therapy. S/he will work closely with the pharmacy staff to integrate into the pharmacy and OSF Healthcare team. The individual will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served, including, adult, and geriatric.
Faculty are evaluated for promotion within the college based on their performance in teaching, scholarship, and service. Academic responsibilities of this position include precepting pharmacy students during IPPE and APPE rotations, lecturing, facilitating small group discussions/recitations, and conducting scholarly activities resulting in publication and presentations. Committee participation and student advising are also part of this faculty member's responsibilities.
Minimum Requirements for this position include: PharmD degree from an accredited PharmD program, plus completion of a PGY2 residency or equivalent experience. Candidates must present evidence of, or eligibility for, Illinois licensure as a registered pharmacist. Exact hire date will be based on evidence of an active Illinois license. Candidates must be able to demonstrate good communicate skills and be teamwork oriented. Candidates must possess knowledge and skills to qualify for an academic faculty position (level commensurate with experience) in the UIC College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice.
