Atlanta Metropolitan State College, a four-year degree-granting institution of the University System of Georgia, is accepting applications and nominations for a full-time Assistant Professor of English as a Second Language, a tenure track position. Atlanta Metropolitan State College currently serves nearly 3000 commuting students at its main campus which is located 10 minutes south of downtown Atlanta and 15 minutes north of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The Division of Humanities and Fine Arts offers the Associate of Arts Degree in English, Music, Speech, Art, Mass Communications, General Studies and Foreign Language (Spanish and/or French), and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Digital Media and Entertainment Design. 

Atlanta Metropolitan State College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor rank, specializing in the area of English Speakers of other Languages/Bilingual Education starting Fall 2017. We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated expertise in (a) ESL/Bilingual instruction for students, including those who are culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse students, (b) teaching blended or online classes as well as face-to-face courses, and (c) a commitment to working in local schools. The faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in TESOL methodology and developmental and advanced ESL composition. This position shall provide English language training to international students at a variety of skill levels. Classes at each level focus on grammar, speaking/listening, reading/vocabulary or writing.  

A Master's Degree is required, preference going to applicants with a Ph.D. in English, with a minimum of eighteen graduate semester hours (thirty-quarter hours) in ESOL and bilingual education or second-language acquisition/teaching. The successful candidate should possess the ability and desire to provide quality instruction to students with diverse backgrounds while effectively collaborating and cooperating with other members of the faculty, staff, and administration. Applicants must have a history of effective teaching at the collegiate level and must have experience teaching online courses and using online class management technology, preferably Desire 2 Learn or BrightSpace.
