Licenses and Certifications:
-Meets the Check Instructor qualifications required by FAR Part 141.
-FAA Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with Airplane Single-Engine Land, Airplane Multiengine Land, and Instrument Airplane ratings.
-Current FAA Flight Instructor Certificate with Airplane Single-Engine and other ratings appropriate to the assigned duties.

Summary of Duties
Under the direction of the Chief Instructor or designee, conducts pilot evaluations and training with UVU Professional Pilot students in accordance with FAA regulations, department policies and standard operating practices. May also be assigned to train and recommend initial flight instructor candidates, perform flight instructor standardization, or other duties deemed necessary by the Chief Instructor.
Graduated with a standard high school diploma or the equivalent and current FAA Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot certificate with Airplane Single-Engine Land, Instrument Airplane ratings. Must have a current and valid Certified Flight Instructor Certificate with single-engine and instrument ratings (CFII). Must have held a CFI Certificate for at least 2 years if hired for or assigned to a position training new instructors. Must have a current flight review, current instrument privileges, current 2nd class FAA medical certificate, and other ratings as applicable to the responsibilities assigned. Must have at least 400 verifiable hours of instruction given as a CFI in airplanes.
At least 650 verifiable hours total time in aircraft.
Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, including FAR Part 141.
Knowledge of standard pilot training practices and all applicable information resources.
Knowledge required to demonstrate competence in the privileges of the pilot and instructor certificates held by the applicant.
Must regularly demonstrate competence in all operational duties including piloting, flight instruction, ground instruction, student evaluation, instructor evaluation.
Effective teaching skills.

Ability to pass initial and recurrent tests related to Part 141 check instructor duties.

• Flight center hours of operation are 6:30am through 8:00pm with extended hours on some days.
• The primary work responsibility is the conduct of student oral and flight evaluations. The assignment of regular students for training may be given on a case-by-case basis depending on need.
• Student training slots are 3 days per week on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday. Training slot duration is 2 hours each day.
• Work schedule is based on assigned evaluations, (2-4 hour sessions), any assigned training slots, and other administrative duties, if any. Training slots are assigned to Advanced CFIs in preferential order based on a combined performance-, experience- and seniority-based system.
• Part-time work limits are 128 hours per month based on federal limitations.
• Work time outside student slots are required as necessary for mandatory meetings, record-keeping, lesson preparation, communication with students and supervisors.
