Job Description

A research Scientist position is immediately available in the Plant Science Division at the University of Missouri (PI: Dr. John Lory). The focus of this position is the design, data collection, and statistical analysis of on-farm strip trials. The primary responsibility of the successful candidate is to provide leadership within the team on developing and using innovative statistical approaches to extract lessons learned from spatially referenced data collected from on-farm trials. The position will require collaboration with researchers at other institutions and interacting with farmers about proposed trials and the resulting lessons learned.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in agronomy, agricultural economics or other technically relevant field. Proficiency using the statistical packages R and SAS, experience with spatial and/or Bayesian statistical methods, and proficiency with commercial geographic information system (GIS) software are all highly desirable skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team are essential.




Salary

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits available include group health, life, dental, and disability insurance and a retirement plan. Renewal of an annual appointment is based on performance and available funding; current project is funded for three years.
