Posting Summary:
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Virginia invites candidates, excited for the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative research environment, to apply for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. The incumbent will perform research to develop technology for rapid genetic DNA analysis on a microfluidic device. This research involves development and integration of microfluidics and biochemistry assays on the microfluidic scale including DNA extraction, DNA amplification, and DNA separation.

Completion of a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or a related discipline is required. Candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills, and demonstrated experience with, (a) capillary and microchip DNA separation (b) multicolor LIF detection systems for electrophoresis, (c) development of centrifugal microfluidic devices for DNA analysis, and (d) integrated microchip design and fabrication. Candidates are expected to be capable of working on a schedule to deliver results under time constraints. Experience and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary science and directly with an engineering team is strongly desired.
