Position Summary:

The Intake, Assessment & Retention Specialist is responsible for administering and interpreting student assessments, placing students in appropriate classes, referring students to resources within the college and community, and maintaining data required by DLLR and MHEC grants. The Intake, Assessment & Retention Specialist provides mentoring, informal class visits, and curricular guidance for EBS instructors. The Intake, Assessment & Retention Specialist also represents the EBS program at various outreach events and interacts with community partners.This is a grant funded contractual position.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; a major in education or TESOL certificate preferred
  • Two years experience teaching ESL
  • Experience working with the English as a Second Language student population in an educational setting
  • One year of experience with data collection and general office duties required; some experience in preparing reports
  • Demonstrated proficiency with microcomputer applications
  • Proven ability to maintain records and organize information
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and with attention to details and deadlines
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the public
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the needs of the program
  • Willingness and ability to travel to EBS sites located throughout Anne Arundel County




Preferred Qualifications:
  • A major in education or TESOL certificate preferred
  • Experience administering educational assessments preferred
  • Spanish language skills preferred
