Duties: This position will be responsible for the performance of moderately complex experiments related to biological and molecular analysis of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). Molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA purification, PCR, and plasmid cloning will be used on a daily basis as will blood cell isolation and cell culture. In vitro cultivation of infectious blood borne pathogens including HIV-1, SIV and SHIV (simian-human immunodeficiency virus) and testing for sensitivity to antibody neutralization will be required. This position will be involved in experimental design and troubleshooting. This position will be expected to participate in weekly lab meetings. The position will also have the opportunity to contribute to manuscripts and scientific presentations.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in biological research, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. 3-5 years of experience preferred.
