The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for a tenure-eligible Assistant Professor of Surgery specializing in General & Endocrine Surgery with a clinical focus in Endocrine Surgery and with a major commitment to high-impact research. The faculty member will be responsible for the clinical care of the patients with general and endocrine related surgical problems and will participate in student and post-graduate teaching and scholarly achievements with the ultimate goal of promotion within the University system. The faculty member will be expected to obtain extramural funding in his or her area of academic interest.

Candidates must have an MD and be board-certified or board-eligible in general surgery. It is expected that applicants will have either significant documented experience in endocrine surgery, or have completed fellowship training in endocrine surgery, or have completed a surgical oncology fellowship with a defined focus in endocrine surgery. The applicant must have a strong interest in developing an independent research career and demonstrate research productivity, and be prepared to provide a detailed research proposal.

The University of Virginia Health System is a State, Level I Trauma Center and has an ACGME accredited General Surgery Residency program. UVa is located in Charlottesville, Virginia, close to the Blue Ridge Mountains, the eastern shore and the nation's capital.
