Unit Job Summary: The Senior Associate Director, Strategic Initiatives owns a portfolio of strategic data analysis projects determined by the Dean and Deputy Deans of Chicago Booth. The Senior Associate Director and their team are expected to develop a deep understanding of Chicago Booth's programmatic audiences in order to advise the School's leadership on program strategy and performance. Data collection and analysis expertise, consultative problem-solving, and project management acumen are the Senior Associate Director's most important skills. At a given time, projects in the Senior Associate Director's portfolio may include analyzing the drivers of student satisfaction, assessing alumni perceptions of the School, evaluating the success of specific programs or events, or other priorities as directed by the Deans' Office. The Senior Associate Director is expected to collaborate with many different teams across Chicago Booth to execute projects, recommend solutions, and build data analysis capacity across the School. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage a portfolio of strategic data analysis projects for the Dean and Deputy Deans with end-to-end responsibility for assessing needs, scoping requests, coordinating resources with the Executive Director and deans' office, and managing timelines and deliverables -Lead the ongoing operations, analysis, and reporting associated with Booth's participation in five key MBA rankings -Lead the ongoing design, data collection, analysis and reporting for all of Chicago Booth's surveys of graduating MBA students and other school-administered surveys as needed -Lead confidential projects related to Booth faculty as needed -Support faculty committees with data analysis and reporting as needed -Manage two direct reports on the Strategic Initiatives team Support the growth of rigorous data analysis across the school by partnering with Human Resources to create training materials, disseminate best practices, and convene data users Build and maintain a pool of freelancers for ad hoc project support

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Relevant coursework in statistics or data analytics required.

Unit Experience: At least five years of related work experience required, eight preferred. Work experience with survey research methods required. Experience managing data analyst(s) preferred. Consulting or client-facing work experience preferred. Experience working with confidential data preferred.

Unit Job Function Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Excellent data organization, manipulation, analysis, visualization, and presentation skills required. (Microsoft Excel is the most commonly used tool) Working knowledge of predictive analytics (e.g., regression analysis, classification, etc.) required. Superior detail orientation and project management skills required. Track record of self-motivation required. Willingness to occasionally work extended workdays and weekends as needed is required. Proficiency with the statistical software R preferred. Familiarity with Tableau software preferred. Familiarity with the higher education market and the elite business school niche in particular is preferred. Familiarity with relational database reporting, specifically Business Objects Web Intelligence, preferred.
