Sr. Process Technician

TeraDiode is a Massachusetts based high-growth startup and a world leader in developing high-power, high-brightness diode laser systems. Our kW-class direct diode laser technology is a disruptive force in the materials processing industry, which is currently dominated by fiber lasers and carbon dioxide lasers. Our patented wavelength beam combining technology was developed by our co-founders from MIT Lincoln Laboratory and is designed for defense, industrial, and commercial materials processing applications.

Job Description

We seek a Sr. Process Technician with experience in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of the setup and operation of process equipment such as vacuum ovens, solder reflow machines, wire bonders, plasma cleaners, microscopes
  • Ability to assist engineers in process development, execute new processes to develop prototype products, document prototype process development
  • Knowledge of optics, lasers, optical alignment, adhesive systems and curing processes

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Sr. Process Technician will work with engineers to development laser prototypes, new manufacturing processes and new manufacturing equipment. The candidate will have had experience with semiconductor flip chip die attach, wire bonding, and test equipment. Optical assembly and manufacturing experience for lasers is required. Ability to use tools, electrical, troubleshooting, and field service experience is desirable. Experience with manufacturing processes including Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and statistical process control (SPC) is desirable.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of an Associate's degree in Science, Engineering, Electronics, Optics, or Lasers and extensive background in semiconductor processes, lasers, fiber optics, and optical systems, two to three years' experience in manufacturing of two or more of the following areas are preferred: semiconductor processing, diode lasers, diode pumped solid-state lasers, semiconductor lasers, laser-based optical subsystems, laser stabilization, high-power lasers, and optical engineering.

Experience with process equipment, machine tools, electromechanical assembly, and electrical troubleshooting is desirable.
