Degree and Area of Specialization: Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred, preferably in behavioral science or education with course work in student personnel, counseling, recreation, group dynamics or related areas.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: * Two to five years professional experience required in college union/student activities setting, student development programs or related fields.
* Previous experience in program planning.
* Ability to work with students, faculty, staff and Union members of varying backgrounds, interests and abilities in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
* Demonstrated achievement in diversity and inclusion goals and a commitment to enhancing multicultural understanding in a diverse campus environment.
* Ability to work with student groups as well as individuals; concern for group process and democratic methods, and skill in facilitating the same.



Position Summary: The Director of Education and Arts Programs is responsible for assisting the Assistant Director - Program and Leadership in the administration, coordination and development of the Wisconsin Union Program and will share responsibility for the fulfillment of the overall organizational goals of the Wisconsin Union. The Director of Education and Arts Programs has eight main areas of responsibility.



Additional Information: Founded in 1907, the Wisconsin Union is one of the oldest college unions in the United States and is a founding member of the Association of College Unions International.

The Wisconsin Union has an annual operating budget of $50 million and employs nearly 250 full-time staff and 1500 student staff in the departments of Program & Leadership Development; Hospitality Services; Operations; Administration; and the Office of the Director. In Addition, over 300 student volunteers and 2,000 club members under the Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) produce over 1,000 programs and events annually. Program and Leadership fulfills the mission of the Wisconsin Union by building community through educational, cultural, social and recreational opportunities created through a student staff partnership. The Program and Leadership Department promotes and supports ongoing personal development and civic participation by providing student leadership and involvement opportunities.

Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule as determined by business needs, which requires a willingness to adjust personal schedule to needs of programming, understanding the need to observe, participate and evaluate programs.
