Summary of Duties:
The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine (ESFCOM) is a next generation, community based medical school designed to train students to be physician leaders, who innovate, adapt and discover in an ever changing healthcare landscape. The School is now inviting applications for the position of Assistant Dean for Assessment and Evaluation to join the Office of Curriculum.

The mission of the School is to: Develop practical solutions to challenging problems in disease prevention, health care access and delivery; Train primary care physicians who will work in Washington and help alleviate a shortage of doctors, especially in rural and under-served areas; and Develop a strong research component, with faculty members who work on innovative projects, sharing what they know with students in classroom and research settings.

The Assistant Dean for Assessment and Evaluation provides expertise for innovative assessment methods to develop a world-leading program for learner and teacher assessment and program evaluation. This includes assessment and evaluation of institutional and program effectiveness which deal directly with the curriculum of the medical school leading to the MD degree. Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of innovative methodologies for assessment of student learning goals, as established by the Curriculum Committee, and evaluation of institutional and programmatic effectiveness.

Supports the development, coordination, and maintenance of the school's curricular master strategic plan by conducting program research for internal curriculum use and planning, and providing research support for strategic initiatives requiring external and benchmarking data.

Shares expertise in adult learning theory and curricular and instructional design through direct faculty interactions and curricular committee work and educational reform efforts. Provides leadership in curriculum-related committees specifically in the Subcommittee on Evaluation and Assessment.

Required Qualifications:
PhD or EdD in education, psychology or a field relevant to health sciences. MD candidates should demonstrate additional training in the assessment field.

Demonstrated leadership experience in assessment.

Experience working with faculty on assessment and evaluation of medical education.
