About the Position
The Student Success Analyst coordinates the analysis and monitoring of Student and Faculty Success efforts. The Student Success Analyst coordinates tracking the academic performance of cohort groups of students, including remedial, and the effectiveness of specific student success initiatives, including developmental studies. The Student Success Analyst oversees the operation and compliance of SJSU's programs and procedures of the remedial programs related to the CSU Executive Order 665 (math and English college readiness requirements for the CSU). Responsibilities include tracking the performance of remedial students and ensuring their academic records are promptly updated, communicating to remedial students about significant milestones, and analyzing the performance of remedial students and programs effectiveness of developmental studies programs including Early Start, EAP, ELM/EPT testing, and developmental level courses. Responsibilities also include utilizing SJSU data analytic tools to assess the impact of SFS student success initiatives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Designs and implements a comprehensive statistical evaluation plan for Developmental Studies and EO 665 related activities, including tracking pass rates for developmental studies and other EO 665 related courses. Analyzes EO 665 related program outcomes data to recommend program and curriculum improvements. Prepares EO 665 reports as required by the Chancellor's Office and works with other offices, in particular the Registrar, relative to reporting. Develops procedures for obtaining assessment data on student success initiatives in SFS. Analyzes student success data to evaluate the effectiveness of SFS student success initiatives. Identifies and collects data on an on-going basis for purposes of assessment profiles at the institutional level. Prepares annual program performance reports, and participates in other program assessment activities set forth by the AVP of SFS. Designs and coordinates remediation and developmental studies plans in collaboration with administrators, faculty, advisors and testing staff. Collaborates with EAP/Early Start Coordinator to achieve curriculum integration across all preparation and developmental programs. Provides input as required to faculty creating the curricular materials for developmental studies. Assesses the enrollment demand for Developmental Studies classes and communicates that to relevant campus stakeholders. Participates with affected units to develop policies and procedures in the areas of student communication, advising, exceptions and appeals, program compliance, curriculum, and CMS processes, as required. Represents Developmental Studies on the Next Steps team. Assists the Early Assessment/Early Start Program Coordinator with tracking EAP math and English conditional exemptions for completion of senior year requirements. Processes incoming ELM and EPT scores and projects remediation resources needed. Creates effective working relationships with academic departments and support units and communicates projected developmental studies enrollments. Work with AARS to ensure students know their remedial course options for frosh orientations.
