Reporting to the AVP of Research and receiving work lead direction from the Associate Dean of Research, the Administrative Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to both the AVP and the Office of Research unit as a whole (with an Associate Dean, Human Protections Analyst, and Administrative Analyst/Specialist II).


The position is responsible for office coordination, web site creation and maintenance, programmatic oversight for the SJSU and CSU Student Research Competition and other programs as needed, managing calendars, maintaining data for reports, and scheduling and providing assistance in event and program planning. The position contributes to creating and sustaining a responsive environment for SJSU students, staff and faculty. This position acts as the front-line receptionist providing knowledgeable information and answers to visitors; monitors the office budget, tracking expenditures, ordering supplies, preparing purchase requisitions, maintaining office filing systems and performing additional support functions for the office personnel.
