Assistant Professor of Agricultural Engineering
The Department of Agriculture at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College seeks to hire an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Engineering. This is a 10 month, tenure-track position. Applicants must have an educational background in Agricultural Engineering, Biosystems Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours related to the major. Duties include a teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester. Instructing courses in Agricultural Engineering to include topics related to agricultural electronics, sensor and control systems, ISOBus and CAN, hydraulics, power machinery, and harvest and storage systems. Additional teaching assignments will depend on the successful candidate’s areas of interest and expertise. This is a 100% teaching appointment with no required research component. Position is open until filled.
Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College is a residential state college located in Tifton, Georgia, named one of the best 100 small towns in America. The college offers baccalaureate and associate degrees and has an approximate enrollment of 3400.
The individual hired will also serve as an academic advisor to students in the department’s programs, assist with student clubs, participate in administrative and service activities, and work effectively as a member of a faculty team to continually update and improve the content of degree programs in the department. The successful candidate will work with the community and college on initiatives and activities that enhance the student learning experience and community relationships. Active involvement in the agriculture industry by working with organizations such as the Georgia Association of Professional Agricultural Consultants and industry partners is encouraged. The faculty evaluation process addresses teaching, scholarly activity, professional development, and service.
A Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering or closely related field is required. A primary interest and a firm commitment to working with undergraduate education is a must. A background in agricultural electronics, sensor and control systems, ISOBus and CAN, or hydraulics is preferred, but candidates with expertise in any related field will be considered. The ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing is also required.
