The George Washington University School of Business (GWSB) prides itself in offering students an outstanding learning experience that couples academic rigor with practical knowledge. In order to offer students the opportunity to learn from professionals in their field of study, GWSB seeks applicants with significant
professional experience, who are interested in teaching courses or facilitating sections of courses on an individual, pay-per course basis across our undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Courses taught by part-time faculty complement those taught by full-time faculty with the expectation that part-time faculty will bring significant professional experiences into the classroom.
Course Instructors have responsibility for organizing and teaching their course, as well as grading assignments. In some courses, instructors will follow a syllabus developed by the program, but in other courses instructors will design their own. The greatest need is for teaching on-campus classes in Washington, D.C.Minimum Qualifications:
1. Evidence of prior effective teaching in formal environments.
2. An appropriate academic background, exemplified by at least one of the following:
a. A doctorate in business or a related discipline (those teaching courses in business law, taxation, or business and public policy may possess a J.D. in lieu of a doctorate).
b. A master's degree (or equivalent) in a field related to their teaching area, with at least three years of professional or technical experience related to the area of their teaching.
c. Other advanced degree with eight years of professional or technical experience relevant to the specific teaching area, which includes having held senior positions in relevant organizations.
3. Recent experience that demonstrates currency in the field of teaching,
demonstrated by either:
a. Significant professional experiences, intensive in effort and duration, related to their area of teaching in the last five years. Examples include full time work in a business or organization, or extensive consulting activities.
b. Significant scholarly publications in the area of their teaching within the last five years.
