The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine invites applications for tenure track faculty appointments at the level of Professor. The Department seeks creative and highly collaborative scientists with outstanding records of accomplishment in the areas of cell and developmental biology. We are particularly interested in investigators addressing fundamental questions related to cell differentiation, the assembly of cells into tissues, organs and organ systems, and the application of this knowledge to regenerative medicine. Candidates using multidisciplinary and quantitative approaches to these problems are especially encouraged to apply.
Faculty members in the Department of Cell Biology have diverse interests that include membrane trafficking and cell motility, cell adhesion, cell signaling and migration, ECM biology, cell polarity, mechanotransduction, organ system development and tissue regeneration.
Successful applicants will have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and a sustained record of publication, grant support, and teaching and research excellence consistent with appointment at the level of full Professor. Candidates are expected to maintain an active extramurally funded research program and participate in the teaching missions of the Department and School of Medicine, including our Biomedical Sciences graduate programs. Opportunities are also available to participate in our NexGen medical undergraduate curriculum.
