Assistant Professor of Biology

The Department of Science at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College seeks to hire an Assistant Professor of Biology. This is a 10-month, tenure-track position. The successful candidate will have a broad background in biology with expertise in experimental methods in their disciplinary area. Ideal candidates will be able to contribute to curriculum development and teaching in more than one discipline area. The successful applicant will be expected to teach introductory courses including general biology/botany, zoology, and/or genetics and to develop advanced undergraduate specialty courses in his/her area of expertise.   

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College is a residential state college located in Tifton, Georgia, named one of the best 100 small towns in America. The college offers associate and baccalaureate degrees and has an approximate enrollment of 3400.

The preferred candidate will have a proclivity to mentoring students towards completion of senior capstone research projects. Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and be able to foster a collaborative atmosphere among students and faculty. The successful candidate will be a strongly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a firm commitment to excellence in teaching.  Position is open until filled.

A Ph.D. in biology, toxicology, genetics, botany, zoology or a closely related area is required. Candidates will be expected to develop a research program involving undergraduates in experimental projects leading to presentation and publication. A strong candidate must have experience or strong interest in teaching in an undergraduate only program.  Experience in laboratory instruction, preparation and maintenance is desirable.
