Assistant Professor of Agricultural Communication
The Department of English and Communication seeks to hire a specialist in Agricultural Communication. This is a tenure-track, ten-month, full-time faculty position carrying the rank of Assistant Professor.
The successful candidate for this position is expected to teach core undergraduate communication courses and, additionally, to develop new upper division courses that support the Agricultural Communication curriculum. Further responsibilities include seeking and designing opportunities for student internships in agricultural communication. The successful candidate will also serve as an academic advisor to students in the department’s Agricultural Communication program and participate in administrative and service activities, and work effectively as a member of a faculty team to continually update and improve the content of the degree programs in the department. The typical teaching load is 4/4.
Location: Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College is a residential state college located in Tifton, Georgia. Tifton is a progressive community known for its quality of life environment and was recently named as one of the 100 Best Small Towns in America. The college has a student body of approximately 3400 students and a teaching faculty of approximately 100.
The ideal candidate will minimally have a Ph.D. in communication with significant agricultural industry experience. A Ph.D. in Agricultural Communication is preferred. Evidence of successful teaching and scholarly activity is essential. Experience in oral communication, web design, new/convergent media, strategic communication and/or campaign planning also a plus. Ph.D. required. Position is open until filled.
