JOB PURPOSE: Under minimal supervision, the BI reporting Architect will perform the most advanced project and analytical work in a wide range of business intelligence activities that ensure the uniformity, accuracy, and semantic consistency of enterprise data through the application of effective data management, security, stewardship, and governance processes.

The BI Reporting Architect for Major Projects is a key member of the Information Delivery, Management and Architecture (IDMA) team and is responsible for driving Business Intelligence (BI) projects that make up the Evolve Financial Reporting (EFR) program. This position plays a critical role in analysis, solution design and implementation of the Oracle BI reporting projects with responsibility for the dashboard/reporting interface and logical data design. The BI Reporting Analyst interfaces with a broad set of stakeholders from central business functions as well as key representatives from each school to assure a set of solutions that meets a diverse set of operational, managerial, and executive reporting needs.

Duties, Responsibilities and Role:

  • Lead the development of the EFR projects that advance the university financial reporting to a world-class integrated reporting platform.
  • Provide complex analysis and recommendations regarding data management and the design of dashboard and reports; develop interactive queries and dashboards for central and distributed users.Facilitate and document design decisions as well as data and reporting standards, and providing business analysis supporting effective and efficient roll-out of each EFR project.
  • Provide guidance and facilitation in support of our reporting solution re-architecture and transition to a common Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI) platform.
  • Facilitate working sessions with central and distributed end users and management to identify and document current financial information flows, reporting systems, base/user populations, and current and planned initiatives impacting reporting.
  • Coordinate with the reporting team and our business owners, lead the finance data stewardship efforts and develop the metadata supporting the financial reporting systems.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations regarding data management and the design of dashboard and reports.
  • Lead the development of key project deliverables and artifacts such as business requirements, functional design documents, fit/gap analyses, proposed data models, and report mockups.
  • Develop OBIEE Analysis based reports and dashboards for central and distributed users.
  • Collaborate with the data architecture and technical development team to ensure the creation of an efficient technical solution that meets all functional business needs.
  • Identify risks to scope, schedule or budget as they arise; work to mitigate risks.
  • Support training and communication efforts associated with the rollout of this technology across the campus.
  • May plan, mentor and review work of other information analytics-type staff during all phases of a project.

Job Qualifications, Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Master's degree in information systems or related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience preferred.
  • 10 years experience in working with financial data in large, complex environments or providing consultation to similar organizations preferred
  • Exceptional project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects to completion and ensure high quality deliverables
  • Demonstrated experience with Business Intelligence tools and financial systems implementation projects, including agile development, use cases, and usability testing
  • Proven experience in delivering reporting solutions that meet the needs of diverse sets of stakeholders
  • Proven experience in facilitating large and diverse groups
  • Strong analytical capabilities, strategic thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Extensive background in effective information delivery design and report development
  • Strong SQL, data analysis, and visualization skills
  • Extensive Oracle Business Intelligence Analysis report development experience preferred
  • Expertise in MS Excel and extensive use of its advanced analytical capabilities
  • Experience with Oracle Financials required
  • Background in dimensional data modeling preferred
  • Programming or scripting experience preferred
  • Previous higher education and/or Stanford University experience a plus
